Laura Hurtado

Owner | Chief Executive Officer 

Laura Hurtado brings over 20 years of professional management experience.  Specializing in association management and client services, including implementation of property business plans and creative solutions to property issues.  Ms. Hurtado is responsible for strategic planning for the commercial associations and their Boards.  In 2007, after completing her contract with the Marine Corps, she started her career in Association Management as an Executive Assistant.  She has obtained the California Association of Community Managersâ„  certification as a Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM®) with a concentration in Portfolio Management.  Laura has earned an Associate of Arts degree in Paralegal Studies from Humphrey’s College, a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Maryland and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Redlands.  Her professional journey has predominantly focused on the Southern California market, where she has successfully managed a diverse array of projects/associations, including Large-scale Master Homeowners Associations (Eastlake III and Montecito at Otay Ranch), High-rise office buildings (Metrowork), Mid-rise OA condominium buildings (The Park OA), office, industrial, retail, land, and mixed-use developments. Laura has also been an Onsite General Manager for a self-managed community.  At the end of her MBA program, she was offered a position with a CPA firm as the Director of Business Development where she worked to rebrand the company and open various networking opportunities for the firm.

Maria Mercado/Lee Anne Lobato

Accountants

As Synergy's accountants, they main responsibilities include generating and analyzing financial reports, such as balance sheets, income statements, and general ledgers, as well as building and calculating CAM recoveries and reconciliations. Their duties also include processing check-runs, monitoring cash flow, bank reconciliations, monthly journal entries, and annual budgets. Their attention to detail and prioritization provides precise and timely reporting while ensuring the accuracy of accounts payable and accounts receivable.  They assist in the onboarding of accounts to ensure payments are accurately applied.  

 

They are guided by a framework of principles, standards, and ethics to ensure accuracy, transparency, and integrity in their work. Some of the rules they follow are the General Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Ethical Guidelines through the Code of Professional Conduct provided by The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).

Thalina Martin

Administrative Assistant

Ms. Martin is responsible for managing and distributing information among our team, answering phones and handling other administrative work.  She is highly focused on assisting in daily office needs and managing our company's general administrative activities.

David Alva

Director of Association Management 

David Alva joins Synergy Management Group as the Director of Association Management, bringing a robust background in community association and real estate management since 2017. A proud San Diego native, David graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and holds two Associate Degree in Communication and Liberal Studies from Southwestern Community College. He furthered his expertise with a Project Management certificate from Google Career Certificates and a certificate in Real Estate Finance, Investments, and Development from the University of San Diego Professional and Continuing Education.

As a Certified Community Association Manager (CCAM®) from the California Association of Community Managersâ„  and a licensed real estate professional through the California Department of Real Estate, David exemplifies a commitment to excellence in community association management. His professional ethos is grounded in virtue, diligence, and exceptional customer service, ensuring effective communication remains central to every interaction.

David actively fosters thriving communities and empowers clients to achieve their real estate goals with integrity and expertise. His passion for community association management, combined with a dedication to client success, makes him an invaluable asset to Synergy Management Group and its clients.

Marilou Rojas

Director of Business Development 

Marilou Rojas heads the Business Development department where she is responsible for client relationships, bringing on new business, and keeping the Synergy Management Group name out in the industry.  Her current focus will be northern California, forming partnerships with industry partners and focusing on relationship building.
